SEO remains one of the most effective forms of marketing available to businesses today. Since 1999, I’ve helped dozens of websites rank in the top 10 for thousands of organic search keyword phrases that have generated tens of millions of dollars in direct revenue, and hundreds of millions more indirectly. I have deep insight into how to optimize a site so that a modest investment drives business results for years to come. When I develop websites, I always include SEO at no extra charge, and also perform SEO campaigns for existing websites that are guaranteed to succeed.
My SEO Process
SEO Audit
For an existing website, an SEO Audit is highly recommended before an SEO plan can be created. This is because it’s important to diagnose the issues (or opportunities) before developing a treatment plan. An audit consists of a 360-degree view of all the search engine ranking factors affecting your site, and the result is a detailed report that serves as a blueprint for an SEO improvement plan. I use a wide variety of diagnostic scanning tools, analytics reports, website code analysis, and subjective evaluation to create my SEO Audit report. I then review the audit report’s findings with you and discuss possible solutions to address SEO weaknesses and to capitalize on your SEO strengths. If you’re building a new website, we can bypass the audit and move directly to the action plan.
SEO Action Plan
After reviewing and prioritizing problems and opportunities identified in the SEO Audit, I create a detailed SEO Action Plan that consists of the following documents and files:
- Technical Fixes: Outlines specific technical changes to the site’s coding practices to fix any issues affecting the site’s ability to be crawled and indexed by search engine spiders.
- Site Architecture Plan: Explains recommended improvements to the site architecture needed to accommodate technical fixes, expanded content, or on-page keyword optimization.
- Keyword Optimization Plan: Discover keywords using keyword research tools; filter and prioritize keywords based on volume, suitability and ranking potential; then assign primary and secondary keyword phrases to all major website sections and pages
- Content Plan: Recommendations for expanded site content needed to properly address the target audience, to provide ample content to be optimized, or to introduce content needed to attract inbound links.
- Inbound Linking Plan: A basic plan that clients can incorporate into their own routines to increase inbound links on an ongoing basis.
SEO Maintenance
Although a maintenance period is optional, I recommend it to most clients, as it usually takes 3-6 months for search engines fully index and re-rank a site after an SEO campaign has been conducted. This period allows me to make adjustments to the original plan based on the data that we measure on a daily basis. At the outset of this phase, I create an SEO reporting regimen and consult with you on how to interpret and measure SEO success, which is a benefit that can bear fruit for years after the initial campaign has ended.
